It’s nearly goodbye to the old and into the new workshops for the repair team. Regardless we still have fun creating and repairing bikes the across the cycling community from Mapei Cervelo’s (yes..) to Wiggins’s own white F8. Hopefully soon we will be able to show you around the new CBR. Thank you for your patience and support!

Having your bike repaired can often end up with a custom respray. In this case the owner runs a successful training camp in Majorca which is a great way to advertise his business. The repair and paint job carry a life time owners guarantee.

As carbon frames become cheaper more common place it is almost unusual to find a road bike in alloy anymore. What confuses the customer further is that some alloy frames are manufactured to look like carbon. The usual tell tale signs were welding lines on the joints.  Bonding the lugs seem to be more common place on alloy road bikes in particular.
This morning we had a repair inquiry on an all-to-familiar rear mech failure which damaged the seat stay. As you can tell in this image there is a dent. It made me think to write a blog on the difference between Carbon and alloy fractures. Carbon does not dent..period. Unless it is totally crushed the material should come back to shape again post fracture, or close to. Alloy does not and is therefore a much harder straighten and repair. Via Carbon!

The first white s-Works Tarmac was in fact a top tube repair with a rather intricate design to restore. We had to replace all the original graphics to spec once the bike passed QC stress tests.

The black and blue 2016 Venge was a pure custom design. The customer wanted a colour change and some personalisation to the inside of the stays, forks and top tube which we designed for him based on a rough sketch. There are no vinyls on this bike – everything is sprayed in a 4 stage process of multi layering.

CBR modified a front fork camera mount system for 9 video cameras on Chris Froomes bike. It should be pretty cool in 360 watching the mountain training in Tenerife. Always nice to be asked..again!

When you put an Italian bike restorer with an iconic Italian bike then the DNA remains in the restoration. The rule of thumb is to shed a tear..I kind you not!

Here was an opportunity to replicate EXACTLY the spray job of the original bike. Even the decals recreated were flawed slightly and the colour applications were copied to the fade out and slightly aged to ‘settle’ the new spray job down. We didn’t want the Californian Dentist smile for this one..She is now ‘not-new’..;-)

One of the rarest and earliest C35 carbon prototypes was bought to CBR to have the Bottom bracket repaired and the frame restored. The BB had come away and the general condition of the unusual black and white streek pattern was looking tired and yellowing, but not in a nice way..Ferrari had achieved this design by spraying through a fibre filter. We experimented until we got the texture spot on then it was fairy easy to blend the restoration with the original. The yellowing was UV in the old lacquer which we replaced so in essence the bike is still original but in mint condition.

This was a bad one. It seems the CF is a bit fragile when it comes to rear mech failure compared with other brands. It is a great bike but if you have one like this don’t skip it!

All matt olive and dark grey finish gives this ropey red Intense and new lease of life. We guarantee it 😉

Not much to say. We design what you want. The bike comes out as you expect. Only better. The finish of a bike is everything. No decals all sprayed.
