The Swift N-Gen respray, we like clients who have a clear idea of what they want so

we can make their dreams a reality. After a consultation with our client, they mentioned

they loved the luminous yellow colour of their existing bar tape. With that in mind we helped them pick

a good contrasting colour for the luminous yellow, a light grey. The transformation from the

black, white and blue to grey and yellow couldn’t be more different. A note on the luminous

paint, we do usually advise staying away from them as they do fade over time, but doesn’t it look great!

What happens when you take on a taxi with your carbon bike? This Pinarello FP 6 was involved in

a head on collision and the taxi won. Fortunately the rider was not injured but the bike frame had a major head

tube fracture down both sides and underneath. This is a very serious fracture, as it connects

the top tube to the down tube, it has to be done properly to make the bike safe to ride again. When the

repair was completed, the client decided to go for a full custom respray, a dark blue with gold Pinarello heritage

logos. It’s not to everyone’s taste but we like how it turned out.

We don’t often see Santa Cruz frames at Carbon Bike Repair as they are built incredibly tough. This High tower frame had a large top

tube fracture two thirds of its length. This was a strange fracture on a top tube of a mountain bike, especially the size of the fracture. It’s

far more common to see damage to the sides of a top tube rather than the top and centre. After a comprehensive repair and restoration

bringing it back to the factory finish, it was ready for the trails again.

We recently received  a Pinarello Dogma frame that had a sizable fracture in the downtube at the water bottle mount. The repair was a little tricky as the shape is asymmetrical and took a little longer than usual to profile. After the repairs, we completed a two colour restoration to meet the clients budget.

The silver colour of the ‘A’ was changed to match the white of the ‘Dogma’ logo as the client didn’t like the look. Another Pinarello back to on the road with a happy customer.

Carbon bicycle frames are great in many ways. However due to the nature of the material, they are susceptible to cables rubbing trough the paint and into the carbon fibre underneath. A bit of careful placement of frame protector film or leaving some extra cable underneath a bottom bracket shell can save your frame.

The Trek Project 6 has done over 2000km, finished 5 x 100km races and is still in perfect condition. She is being retired.

We had an opportunity to repair an RS1 fork and at the same time give it a custom respray in KTM Orange. We love the result and we have another happy customer.

A few months ago we started a sympathetic restoration, on a classic ONCE LOOK KG 171 Edition TdF rosé. Carbon technology has moved forward at such a massive speed, the aluminum lugged carbon frame is very much of the older manufacturing school. Four repairs to very thick, rather rigid carbon tubes and a fair amount of re bonding will bring it back from the scrapheap. This frame is number 164 of about 200 ever made. Looking forward to seeing this bike back on the road.
